What is an Inverter?

When a PV panel produces electricity from the sun, it doesn’t create usable power. It actually generates, DC (Direct Current) which is a raw form of electricity. The inverter is therefore responsible for transforming that raw power into usable and compatible AC or alternating current. Inverters also act as the central hub of your system, meaning they are usually built with an interface which allows you to see data about your electricity usage as well as any upcoming services. Inverters are also responsible for the flow of power from your system to your home, by diverting excess to the grid or even a home storage battery if needed.
